SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0

The SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0

I read enough of skin stuff from magazines to make me realize that being in my 30s is not too young to start caring for my skin or to use skin products like SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0.  There are so many environmental factors like pollution and exposure to too much sun that affect my skin’s renewal. Photo-radiation is also not out of the question especially that I’ve been spending longer time in front of the computer lately.

However, it’s really hard to look for skin products that could provide the repair that I’m really looking for.  There are things like skin compatibility to be considered and whether the product is effective or not.  Like most women, I’m not so fond of retinol because I don’t like the idea of facial peeling.  It is needed to get rid of the old pigmented skin though so I will have to consider that unless I decide to hide away from the sun or stop using my computer altogether.  I’ve been hearing about SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 for a while now.  I’m just a bit hesitant but now that my face needs some drastic treatment, I’ve made a decision to know more about it.

What is SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0?

According to the product’s official site,

Perfect for problematic and photo-damaged skin, Retinol 1.0 contains 1% pure retinol, the highest concentration currently available, and should be used for advanced treatment of pre-conditioned skin. Designed for maximum efficacy and stability, SkinCeuticals Retinol is formulated with highest concentrations of pure retinol available and enhanced with the latest stabilization and delivery technologies.

Retinol is a form of Vitamin A.  It is derived from a diterpenoid, an organic compound and an alcohol.  It is known to be used in most skin products.  SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 has 1% retinol but the company that makes the product strongly advice pregnant and lactating women not to use it.  It claim to be effective however in the renewal of your skin and getting rid of blotchiness and blemishes.

How to use the SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0?

SkiCeuticals Retinol 1.0

pea-size amount of SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 from www.youvegotface.com

Its going to be my first time using a product with retinol (if I am to decide to use SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0).  The product’s official site recommend using it twice a week for first timers like me.  The face should be cleaned first before the application of a pea-size amount of the product.  Areas near the eyes should be avoided to prevent irritation.  It is suggested to apply SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 in the evening for a maximum result.   Take a look at the picture on the right.  I got that from www.youvegotface.com and it shows just how much a “pea-size” amount look like.

How would SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 affect the skin?

I saw this SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 review while researching about the product and the blogger was saying that she has been using it everyday ever since she can remember.  As with the other SkinCeuticals product I’ve done research on, there is an issue with the packaging.  But the product is EFFECTIVE.

Whatever the issues with the packaging, there is no doubt that this product works superbly… I cannot live without this product…Within a week of using this, my forehead was clear of acne.  And it hasn’t returned.  My skin just seems happier and smoother, and acne never lasts as long when I use this.

And, dare I say it, I look younger. Not many people pick that I am 36 years old (either it’s the product or they’re lying) these days, which I attribute to this product’s ability to encourage new skin to behave itself.

The product claims to have a controlled amount of retinol that minimizes redness.  But facial peeling (as I’ve said) is unavoidable when using retinol.  To stabilize peeling (I’m making this for all of you who are as uncomfortable with peeling as I am), I saw these steps from Brenda Stokes about how to counteract peeling due to retinol.

Step 2

Wear sunscreen that has SPF 15 each day. Make application a part of your daily routine so that when you go outside, you’ll be covered. Retinol makes your skin much more sensitive to sunlight so it’s even more imperative to protect yourself when using it.

Although I’m not too excited with using a product with retinol, I think I might try SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0.  If the product shows to be as effective on my skin as it claims, it will be working on my favor.  And that’s all I really want.  I mean, that’s all my skin  really NEED.
